Synopsis

Ice hockey, one of the fastest team sports in the world, is one of the important sports branches that reflect the national culture of some countries. The fact that it bears the traces of societies in terms of socio-economic aspects has caused it to be handled by scientists from different angles. In addition to facility infrastructure and technical elements, many studies have been conducted in disciplines such as physiological, psychological, nutrition and training science.  In this study, 1206 ice hockey studies in the Scopus database were comprehensively analyzed by bibliometric analysis method. The findings revealed the content validity of the study and provided information on the frequency of scientific production related to ice hockey, author analysis and publication performance of countries.  In parallel with the findings, the results show that Canada and the USA, where ice hockey is considered a national sport, are expected to be the leaders in scientific production. In addition, the intensity of studies on injuries of athletes and the fact that journals publishing in the field of medicine and health sciences are in the first place in this field support our research.
