Synopsis
This chapter addresses the concept of digital sustainability in businesses within the framework of the integration of digitalization and sustainability processes; and examines the importance and applicability of the concept. It can be argued that digital sustainability in businesses has emerged by blending the concepts of “digitalization and sustainability”, which are two important concepts for today’s businesses. Therefore, understanding the digital sustainability approach and activities in businesses depends on understanding the effects and importance of these two concepts for businesses. The aim of this chapter is to examine the concept and scope of digital sustainability in businesses and to provide a perspective on how digital sustainability can be achieved. The chapter addresses the results of the digital revolution, the impact of external factors on businesses in the context of the digital transformation model, the stages of digital transformation in businesses, the strategic imperatives of digital transformation for businesses, the concept and types of sustainability (environmental sustainability, economic sustainability and social sustainability), the concept of digital sustainability in businesses, and the relationship between digital sustainability and other types of sustainability in businesses.
