Synopsis
This research has been focused on bleisure tourism, which is a hybrid, combining business tourism and leisure tourism. Bleisure tourism aims to use leisure time during business travel for tourist activities and has become one of the major travel trends of recent years. However, while the number of studies addressing the causes and effects of this rapidly growing trend is increasing, there is a need to consolidate the emerging literature on bleisure tourism. This need arises from the fact that the differentiation of bleisure tourism from corporate business tourism and leisure tourism remains blurred. This research aims to fill the gap in this field by addressing the findings and gaps in existing research on the rise of bleisure tourism. In addition, the dynamics affecting the spread of bleisure tourism as a new trend were tried to be determined. By making these dynamics understandable, this study aims to contribute to the development of the literature on bleisure tourism. A number of methods have been used to clarify the framework of bleisure tourism. First, both domestic and foreign literature was reviewed and previous studies on bleisure tourism were examined. Business tourism and leisure tourism are then summarized in detail in order to provide a framework for bleisure tourism. In order to elaborate on bleisure tourism within this framework, conceptual discussions and knowledge of the literature, tourist typology and motivations, destination management and business policy are discussed. In addition, survey data from online travel platforms related to bleisure tourism are analyzed to provide insights on the definition, typologies and trends of bleisure travelers.
