The Effect of Body Images on The Quality if Life of Women Receiving Hemodialysis Treatment and The Relationship Between Their Perceived Social Support
Synopsis
This study was conducted as a descriptive cross-sectional study in order to determine the relationship between the effect of body images on quality of life and perceived social support of women receiving hemodialysis treatment. The study was conducted with 85 female patients receiving dialysis treatment in all hemodialysis units affiliated to the Bingöl Provincial Health Directorate between March and July 2021. The data were collected through face-to-face interviews with individuals using the "Patient Description Form", "The Effect of Body Image on Quality of Life Scale" and "Multidimensional Scale of Perceived Social Support". SPSS 22.0 program was used for statistical analysis of the data. Type-1 error was used as 0.05 (0.95 power) for statistical significance p<0,05.
The mean age of women is 58.67±14.69 years. The total mean score of the scale of the effect of body image on quality of life was determined as 13.07±19.41. It was determined that the mean score of the scale of the effect of body image on quality of life increased as the level of education, income level, number of children, presence of additional chronic diseases, adherence to diet, general appearance satisfaction and exercise of the women included in the study increased. The total mean score of the multidimensional perceived social support scale was found to be 54.44±12.53. Perceived social support; It was determined that the level of satisfaction with the presence of children, exercise and general appearance increased as the level of satisfaction increased. As a result, as body image quality of life increases, perceived social support increases.
