Synopsis
Pregnancy is a unique period in which significant changes occur in many aspects of life. Although pregnancy is a natural process, it brings many physical, psychological and social changes. These changes significantly affect the woman's daily life, quality of life and the pregnancy process. Although it varies in every society, inadequate knowledge and beliefs about the prenatal, birth and postnatal period are quite high. Therefore, in this process, midwives contribute to a healthy pregnancy process and the birth of a healthy baby by providing trainings on health protection and promotion, counseling the pregnant woman, her partner and the family. Antenatal care includes a series of controls and care from the beginning of pregnancy until birth. This process ensures regular monitoring of the mother and fetus. Quality antenatal care aims to assess the physical, psychological and social needs of the mother and provide appropriate education and counseling services. Counseling expectant mothers on danger signs and symptoms can reduce the number and severity of potential problems during pregnancy. Therefore, quality antenatal care with at least four follow-up visits is recommended for a healthy pregnancy.
