Synopsis

This study addresses the definition, components, and application areas of the Internet of Things (IoT) technology, which is used in a wide range of applications from daily life to industrial processes. The study examines the transformation brought about by the concept of IoT in social and industrial dimensions, aiming to provide a comprehensive analysis for academic communities and professionals seeking to gain knowledge on the subject. Additionally, by exploring the technological infrastructure, application areas, and innovations offered by IoT, the study aims to contribute to the understanding of changes in the digitizing world and serve as a significant reference for both academic literature and professional applications. Examples such as remote control of devices in smart home systems, improving efficiency with smart irrigation systems in agriculture, and remote patient monitoring in the healthcare sector are provided to illustrate the demand for and benefits of this technology. In addition to the advantages of efficiency and automation offered by IoT, attention is drawn to security and privacy issues. The study highlights that IoT devices may be vulnerable to cyberattacks, emphasizing the need to enhance security measures. It is suggested that to increase the societal benefits of IoT, security and privacy policies must be strengthened.
