Today, digital transformation has become quite effective in all areas, both in the public and in businesses. Especially when conducting international trade processes, benefiting from information and communication technologies has become mandatory for both businesses and countries in order to gain competitive advantage. Some applications that slow down international trade transactions can cause trade between countries to become difficult. International trade transactions, which increase transaction costs and lose time due to some procedures, are carried out easier and faster by using digital transformation. It is expected that customs transactions will be faster, less costly, more secure and more functional through digital customs applications. The study includes digitalization and its impact on customs processes, and explains the current digital customs applications. It is seen that countries that want to gain competitive advantage in international trade should give more importance to digital customs applications in the coming periods.
