Synopsis

The problems of global warming and climate change are having a negative impact on general economic and social life and are causing critical problems for the continuation of human life. In line with the Sustainable Development Goals, it aims to reduce the use of fossil fuels and increase investment in renewable energy resources. Countries need to adapt their infrastructure systems and production processes to take advantage of renewable energy sources. Countries need financial resources for related activities and energy transformation. Given the difficulties in finding sources of finance for new investments, finding finance for renewable energy investments is quite challenging. The aim of this study is to highlight the importance of the relationship between renewable energy and green bonds. Green bonds are new financial instruments that have emerged in line with current financial developments.

The literature review and evaluations on green bonds and renewable energy investments have shown that the relationship between green bonds and renewable energy investments is important for financial markets and sustainable development goals. It was found that there are few studies in the literature on the relationship between green bonds and renewable energy investments. The study attempts to explain green bonds and summarise studies that examine the relationship between renewable energy and green bonds. The importance of green bonds for renewable energy investments is emphasised. It has been recognised that financial instruments such as green bonds need to be more widely used to develop the green finance market. Increasing the issuance of green bonds is an important issue for renewable energy investments where it is difficult to find financing sources. Evaluated from different perspectives, it will contribute not only to renewable energy investments, but also to policy makers, investors, researchers and the development of financial markets.
