Sustainable development meets the needs of individuals without risking needs of the next generations. concept of sustainable development has become popular since 1980.   sustainable development has been official and implemented worldwide with the help of international actors and policy makers in 1990s. logic of  the sustainable development based on sustainability in order to achieve economic and social advancements for goverments. This understanding emphasizes on future and aims to maintaining higher quality life standarts. A development program which excludes environmental and ecological can satisfy short term demands. However, it can risk long term individual needs. It is impossible to forecast when developments start to create ecologic problems. Unfortunately, ecologic corruption is usually irreversible. In this regard, the explosion of the Chernobyl nuclear power plant in 1986 still has been remaining fresh in the memories. Therefore, taking into account the economic and social structure and environmental interaction in a holistic manner, ensuring the benefit of the current and next generations from the blessings of development in a fair way composes the basis of sustainable development. In this context, the concept of green finance will be an extremely useful solution in the realization of sustainable development goals. Green finance is a platform that brings together the financial industry and the business world with environmentally friendly technologies, products and projects. The main goal of the projects supported by green finance is to provide effective and wide-ranging solutions to environmental problems. It is foreseen that the development of environmental awareness at the global level and the increasing energy needs day by day will be effective in the spread of the concept of green finance. The main studies on green finance in the literature had been included in this study.
