Synopsis

Management is a free art that draws freely from all disciplines to help us understand ourselves and our world. Sport has the power to unite people across cultural, social, ethical and religious barriers and the sports industry has certainly become one of the new players in modern national and international markets. Sports management is the process of effectively and efficiently planning, executing and supervising sports organizations, events and programs. This field deals with the organization and management of sport at both amateur and professional levels. Sports management requires organizational skills as well as an understanding of the specific dynamics of sport.Sport-related organizations are a strategically important focus area for sports federations, sports leagues, sports clubs, individual athletes and sporting goods businesses, but research in the field of sport management study is lacking. Sport organizations and sport managers, like corporate managers in other industries, need to explore their strategic importance in sport.
