Synopsis

It is important to find low-cost alternatives to existing food sources to meet future food consumption needs. It can be said that there has been an increase in interest in edible insects as an alternative food source recently. It is being investigated by different countries, especially due to its environmental and nutritional advantages. Therefore, this study aims to evaluate the future food potential of edible insects by comparing their strengths and weaknesses, possible threats and opportunities in detail. It is thought that this study on edible insects will make an original and meaningful contribution to the literature. In addition, studies on edible insects, whose potential as an alternative food is investigated in the future, can be very important for the policies of food production, diversification and use as a food source in the kitchen of food production companies.
