Synopsis

Volkswagen (VW) emissions vehicle was released on September 18, 2015. Around the world, VW has ignored environmental pollution, public health and law by placing "fake software" in diesel engines to reduce emission values during testing. When this manipulation first emerged in the United States, VW company's share prices fell by 35% within 2 weeks. In addition to these sudden share value losses, large financial compensation lawsuits have been filed against VW in Germany. Additionally, VW diesel vehicle owners worldwide have filed lawsuits to protect their rights. While it was discussed whether VW could get rid of all these negativities and regain its reputation, in 2017 the company managed the crisis well and managed to be among the world's largest automobile manufacturers again. Although this unexpected increase is evidence that the scandal is over for some, indicators indicate that VW has not yet been fully cleared of this incident and that some problems are arising from the scandal. This work; Examining the documents and information published during the crisis that emerged with the VW emissions scandal presents how the VW company/investors were affected and the lessons to be learned from this crisis.
