For the development of Bitlis, the potentials of the province should be examined in detail. In this section, geographical attractiveness and cultural richness, which are among the most important potentials of the province, are examined for this purpose. Among the topics of this study are revealing the potentials of the province in order to evaluate the decisions regarding the tourism planning of the province, addressing the deficiencies that may prevent the development of tourism in the province and what needs to be done to overcome these deficiencies. Tourism is very effective in reducing interregional development differences. In the process of conducting this study, previous studies and observations were utilized. One of the aims of this study is to examine the tourism potentials of Bitlis province and to create an awareness of Bitlis province by revealing these potentials. In the study, firstly, general information about the province of Bitlis is given and the touristic values and tourism potentials of the province are explained. Therefore, the economic importance of tourism in reducing inequality between regions is discussed first. In our study, it is concluded that Bitlis province has many cultural, historical and natural tourism values and therefore Bitlis can be one of the important touristic destinations.
