Synopsis
Focus points of tourists in the tourism sector change over time. Especially after the Covid-19 epidemic, changes in accommodation preferences are noteworthy. The concept of isolated holidays brought about by Covid-19 has brought about the choice of different accommodation types. Bungalow type businesses have become one of the indispensable accommodation activities in a short time, as they can be rented daily, weekly or for longer periods and are located in destinations that stand out with their natural beauties. It has become very popular in both big cities and smaller settlements. Especially in the Sapanca region, bungalows that serve actively for 12 months attract attention due to both their architectural features and the natural areas they are located in. However, this interest also raises certain problems. In this study, it is aimed to focus on the managerial problems experienced in bungalows operating in Sapanca and to propose solutions to these problems.
Aim
The aim of the study is to determine the managerial problems experienced in bungalow businesses in Sapanca and to suggest solutions to these problems. It is expected that this research will contribute to both the literature and the businesses in question by determining the managerial problems experienced in bungalow businesses and suggesting solutions to these problems.
Method
In line with the aim of the study, interview technique, one of the qualitative data collection methods, was used in the interpretive paradigm axis. The research population is the bungalow businesses in Sapanca region. The sample of the study consists of 14 bungalow business managers reached in Sapanca region. Data analysis was conducted through MAXQDA 2020 programme.
Findings
According to the findings obtained from the data obtained; the issues that bungalow businesses in Sapanca have the most problems are reservation and local administration problems. In addition, it is seen that there are partially problems with qualified personnel. In other themes, it was found that there are certain problems specific to the businesses and that there are not many problems in general.
Results and Suggestions
In line with the results obtained from the study, local administrations should focus on infrastructure works, energy production from renewable sources can be considered if the natural structure of the region allows, then all bungalow businesses can be communicated through a single website to reduce fraudulent activities in the region, and tourism faculties can be applied for personnel. Thanks to internship etc. orientations, the qualification problem of the personnel will be eliminated. A follow-up system can be established for certification. At certain intervals, the enterprises that are given the right to be certified can be subjected to various audits and directives.
Originality/Value
There is no study examining managerial problems specific to bungalow businesses in Sapanca. This situation reflects the original value of the study.
