Motivation to lead, which is one of the current researches in the leadership literature and explains the individual's motivation for leadership position through individual differences, is discussed in this chapter. Motivation to lead is one of the pioneering studies which investigates individuals' motivations for leadership position. Motivation to lead construct investigates the effects of personality traits, values, self-efficacy and past leadership experiences on motivation to lead. In this study, firstly, the theoretical development of the concept, its dimensions and its antedecents were explained in detail Then, the results of other researches about motivation to lead were discussed. Finally, opinions about the motivation to lead and future research directions were shared in the conclusion.
