Synopsis

Disasters are natural events that negatively affect the region where they occur, stop normal living conditions, cause serious harm to the people of the region. The Kahramanmaraş-based earthquake experienced on February 6, 2023 is one of the biggest natural disasters experienced in Turkey. After these big earthquakes in a row, many of our citizens have lost their lives in many provinces and there has been great destruction in the region. After the natural disaster, serious damage caused by the disaster occurred on the highways and railways providing transportation to the region, which caused disruptions in the delivery of aid to be transferred to the disaster zone to those in need. The damages in the logistics networks experienced after the earthquake also have a negative impact on the economic structure of 11 provinces. It is important for the people of the region who are trying to get back on their feet after the earthquake that the flow of goods and services returns to its previous state quickly. This situation is much more important for Hatay and the surrounding provinces, which are trying to become the center of logistics and trade through land, sea and railways. This study has been prepared in order to make an assessment on disaster management and logistics related to earthquake processes in 11 provinces.
