While technology holds a significant position in human life, its evolving and advancing state has found its place within the life cycle. Just as in all sectors, advancing technology has paved the way for some distinct differences and innovations, influencing entirely different developments in the field of sports and bringing about diverse perspectives on the concept of sports. The merging of the word 'electronic' with the concept of sports, creating the term e-sports, has introduced a new concept into sports literature while raising numerous questions and approaches. Parallel to the main aim of sports, which is a competition oriented towards winning through physical and mental effort under specific rules, the application of e-sports in an electronic environment has led to various conceptual confusions in integrating it into the fundamental philosophy and thought process of sports. This study aims to describe the concept of e-sports through definitions, depictions, and explanations, contributing to the understanding of the current perception of e-sports. As a result, it is understood that e-sports is gaining global acceptance, becoming the subject of scientific studies, and will be an indispensable passion in the coming years with an increasing number of professional players and clubs. Additionally, an attempt has been made to describe the concept of e-sports from various perspectives.
