Synopsis
The design spectra defined in the earthquake regulations or the spectrum obtained by site-specific seismic hazard analyzes are used to determine the earthquake forces that will affect a structure. Selection of ground motion prediction equations to calculate the ground motion parameters through seismic hazard analysis is an important process. If the estimation equation compatible with the project site can be determined in advance, an important problem will be solved. In Turkey, the increase in the number of strong motion stations and the number and quality of records in recent years constitutes an important source for seismic hazard studies. Within the scope of this study, local ground motion prediction equations developed for Turkey were examined and a general evaluation was performed about their forms.
