Synopsis

The European Union's focus on policies regarding climate, environment, sustainability, marine and the world's ecosystem dates back to the 1990s. At the centre of green policies, which can be gathered under a single heading, is the Green Deal strategy document adopted by the European Union in 2020. As a strategy document, the Green Deal is based on plans and strategies to transform the European Union in all areas. All precautionary measures and legislation created by the European Union since the 1990s were reshaped and linked according to the document with the adoption of the Green Deal. The study aims to reveal the European Union's climate, environment and sustainability regulations, which can be called green policies. In this context, the study attempts to reveal the current situation of the European Union in green policies by gathering all the European Union policy areas it has discussed under the title of green policy. As a result, the study found that the interest in green policies in the European Union increased in the 1990s, and environmental, marine and climate regulations were implemented in the European Union in the context of its interests and the healthy functioning of the internal market.
