Fiber art has a wide range of application methods that essentially use textile techniques and materials. During the most investigative period of fiber art in the 1960s and 70s, artists brought cultural patterns, techniques, or clothing from different geographies with mystical effects to their works in form and texture. In fiber art activities that continued almost simultaneously in Europe and America, Eastern Europe, the Far East, South America, Central Asia, and various local textile techniques were used, especially along with tapestry weaving techniques. With a similar approach, a study was carried out in this research inspired by the Central Asian Shaman costumes of the Ancient Turks. The aim of this research article is to examine Shamanism, which is a part of the religious belief systems of the ancient Central Asian Turks, and to produce a work of fiber art as a result of texture research and applications with different textile techniques, inspired by the characteristic forms and textures of remarkable shamanic clothes, adorned with cultural and spiritual symbols. First of all, in the study, which includes qualitative research based on a descriptive model about the Central Asian Turks, Turkish Shaman clothing and features are discussed. In the second part of the research, general information about fiber art is given and original texture works made with a research approach, focusing on weaving, printing, and different textile techniques and materials are explained in detail. The fiber artwork, consisting of 12 original weaving and printing pieces with an experimental method in terms of texture and weaving techniques in an artistic textile structure, is presented at the end of the research, together with the combining methods.
