Synopsis
Today's healthcare services are undergoing a rapid transformation, influenced by developing technologies, increasing patient demands, and financial pressures. In the face of this rapidly developing structure of the health sector, hospitals are looking for innovative approaches to facilitate operations, optimize patient care, and increase the efficiency of resources. One of the approaches developed for this purpose in recent years is hospital command centers (HCC). HCC is a technology-oriented operation center developed to provide improvement in many activities carried out in all units of the hospital (such as patient admission, hospitalization, diagnosis, and surgery). HCCs use several advanced technologies, such as artificial intelligence, advanced algorithms, machine learning, and the Internet of Things, in the collection and analysis of data. With an effectively used HCC, hospitals can regulate patient flows, improve the quality of care services, increase communication and cooperation in hospital functioning, reduce risks by approaching events with a proactive management approach, and increase efficiencies in the allocation of resources. In this study, the conceptual framework, functions, and organizational structure of HCCs, the technologies and tools used in this center, the benefits of HCCs, the elements to be considered when establishing a HCC, and potential innovations were discussed. In the last sections of our study, a success story and suggestions related to HCC have been included.
