Synopsis

Due to the increase in unethical behavior in working life in recent years, research on the dark side of personality has increased in parallel. Individuals with psychopathy characteristics do not care about the damage they cause to the work environment because they are focused only on achieving the goal in their working lives. Because of these negative characteristics, they experience incompatible and difficult relationships with other individuals; they negatively affect the health of the organization. These individuals may show negative work behaviors such as bullying, low job performance, job dissatisfaction, burnout, and insecurity. Managers and leaders who display psychopathy characteristics can cause the stress level of other employees to increase and lead to the spread of negative behaviors in the organization. In this book chapter, the concept of psychopathy, which is considered among the dark personality traits, is defined and its characteristics and effects on working life are tried to be evaluated.
