Synopsis

The tourism experience can be perceived not merely as a means of relaxation and detachment from the mundanity of daily life but also as an avenue for personal growth, learning and self-actualization. In the contemporary context, intensified competition among destinations and the rising sophistication of tourists as consumers have compelled the tourism sector to ambark on novel endeavors and closely monitör their preferences in order to effectively address the demands of modern travelers (Hernandez-Mogollon et al., 2019: 1). Different types of tourism are emerging to meet the desires and expectations of tourists and to balance tourism demand. One of these is olive oil tourism, which has emerged as a subbranch of agro tourism, especially in recent times. Olive oil tourism is a significant form of tourism associated with the world of olive trees and olive oil, contributing to the preservation of cultural heritage and societal development while also being an important component in competitiveness. Within this scope, olive oil tourism emerges as a developing practice that deserves greater attention, both from a scientific and practical standpoint, as part of the changing landscape and new quests in the tourism industry. This practice facilitates tourists to demonstrate positive attitudes towards both the product and the destination, while also leading to improvements in their behavioral intentions and overall quality of life (Campon-Cerro et al., 2023: 348- 349). In regions characterized by a Mediterranean climate, the form of tourism focused on olives and their products allows individuals to engage in a comprehensive process of learning, experiencing and assimilating the associated culture. Giving due significance to olive oil tourism, which represent a novel pursuit in the tourism sector, will significantly contribute to generating economic, social and cultural benefits, particularly in rural areas. Moreover, it will play a crucial role in effectively transmitting and perpetuating this cultural heritage to forthcoming generations.
