Synopsis

We can say that leftist ideology in Turkey has a long history of up to a hundred years. During the 1960-1980 period, the left spread throughout society through various publications and organizations. The subject of this study is left ideology between 1960-1980. The study aims to reveal the development and processes of left ideology in these years. In this context, the Yön Journal, which is considered to be an intellectual symbol, the Workers Party of Turkey’s entry into the Turkish Grand National Assembly, workers’ and student protests, the National Democratic Revolution movement, and the Republican People’s Party’s center-left discourse are explored. The left, which gained ground with the 1961 Constitution, also experienced divisions within itself and took on a fragmented appearance.
