The Republic of Turkey has experienced many ideological changes in its hundred-year history. The Republic was built based on the historical, cultural, and economic conditions of the country during its founding years. The events experienced by the country and the effects reflected from outside have been decisive on the founding ideology of the country. The new issues that the country has faced in the following years have continued to change this ideological position or force it to change. On the one hand, the pressures of the bureaucracy (tutelage elements) and, on the other hand, the expectations of the people have led political party leaders to ideological transformation - to protect their existence and increase their votes. Likewise, it is observed that such an ideological transformation occurs with the change of leaders of the parties. In addition, the founding elite of the Republic pushes political parties/governments towards a transformation by carrying out institutional transformations on a constitutional basis to preserve the current system. Finally, many examples in Turkish political life show that political parties try to protect their existence by determining different ideological positions in their policies. Therefore, this study discusses the ideological change that Turkey has experienced based on the following six pillars: “historical, cultural and economic bases”, “political parties”, “political actors/leaders”, “domestic and foreign political events”, “political institutions” and “political policies”. Thus, it aims to shed light on the hundred-year transformation experienced in Turkey. For this purpose, a literature review was conducted and the data on these bases were selected and classified from the contents of the primary and secondary sources obtained. Additionally, the issue was examined through examples from Turkish political life. Therefore, the study was concluded by exemplifying and making concrete the basis of change in political ideologies.
