Synopsis

The change in the understanding of trade with globalization makes the development of the logistics sector mandatory. In this direction, various activities carried out in the logistics sector provide important services in terms of meeting both local and international demand.  Logistics services also connect the local economy to the international economy by providing sectoral connections within the regional economy. The link between interrelated production and service sectors such as agriculture, food, manufacturing and tourism within the local economy can be strengthened with a profitable transportation and logistics system. This is because one of the objectives of producers is to ensure that their goods reach consumers safely, with minimum delay and cost-effectively.

In this study, logistics concept, logistics performance index and its importance, logistics performance index indicators of Turkey, Brazil, Russia, India, China and South Africa were given and a comparison was made. As a result of the comparison, it has been revealed that Turkey ranks 3rd after China and South Africa in comparison with BRICS countries in general.
