Synopsis
Privacy has become a major concern in the digital age as personal information is collected, processed, and stored by various organizations. Protecting and securing the privacy of this data has become a priority for governments around the world. The use of CCTV cameras has increased significantly in recent years, raising concerns about the impact on individual privacy. Secure housing has received increased attention in recent years due to urbanization, technological advances and a growing focus on security and well-being. In today's ever-evolving world, secure housing has become increasingly important due to the need for safety and protection from potential threats. However, it is important to examine the balance between security measures and fundamental rights such as freedom and privacy.
This paper aims to shed light on the debate surrounding the balance between security and civil liberties by assessing the effectiveness of CCTV in preventing crime, the ethical concerns surrounding the invasion of privacy, and the impact and consequences of CCTV surveillance on individual liberties in urban environments. It also examines the various laws and policies that have been developed to protect privacy, reviews the academic literature on the emergence and spread of secure housing, identifies key trends, challenges, and opportunities, and highlights the trade-offs between security measures and fundamental rights such as liberty and privacy.
