Synopsis
Increasing competitive conditions on a global scale further increases organizations' concerns about effectiveness and efficiency. This situation becomes more challenging to manage as change is constant and stakeholder expectations diversify. Sustainable competitive advantage is directly related to meeting stakeholders' expectations and demands, and at this point, it directly affects performance. However, increasing ethical violations and poor management practices raise stakeholders' expectations of a responsible leader who is inclusive, prioritizes environmental and social issues, and establishes trust. At this point, the responsible leadership approach emerges as a post-modern management approach that embraces transparency, openness, and diversity of internal and external stakeholders and makes sustainability possible. It significantly contributes to the formation of the vision of organizations, employee loyalty, and a positive organizational climate. In addition, responsible leadership increases the financial and overall performance of the organization. In this context, responsible leadership that will meet the expectations of today's internal and external stakeholders and provide sustainable management practice is discussed in this section of the book. Firstly, the concept of responsible leadership and its effects are shared within the scope of the extant literature. Recommendations for implementing responsible leadership are presented. It is considered that increasing awareness of responsible leadership is vital for organizations' sustainable competitive advantage and management practice.
