Synopsis
Work-Life Balance is an important issue in HRM which is necessary in promoting individual and organizational effectiveness. Work-Life Balance encompasses the strategies and theories adopted by employees to maintain and sustain a balance between their work and personal lives. This study introduces the concept of work-life balance along with fundamental theories from the literature, addressing working conditions in healthcare institutions and the challenges in this field. Healthcare institutions provide services around the clock, and as a result, employees in healthcare settings often face difficulties such as long working hours, shift work, and emergency response duties. These conditions can lead to work-life balance issues among healthcare professionals. Achieving work-life balance is important for employees to allocate time to both their professional and personal/family lives. Various strategies can be employed to improve work-life balance for healthcare workers. However, employees may encounter certain challenges in their pursuit of work-life balance. Raising awareness, taking necessary measures, providing training, and developing policies are essential to enhance work-life balance for healthcare professionals. Work-life balance can contribute to preserving the physical and mental health of healthcare workers. It can boost motivation and job satisfaction in the workplace while reducing job-related burnout. Moreover, it can create opportunities for individuals to spend more time with their families, friends, and personal interests.
