Synopsis
Digitalization has changed organizations and ways of doing business, and this change has brought about the need for a new leadership beyond traditional leadership approaches. Digital leaders, defined as people who have the digital perspective and skills to do the right things for the successful implementation of digitalization in organizations and work ecosystems, are extremely important for businesses in today's ever-digitalizing world. Although digital leadership has inevitably come to the forefront in recent years, there are limited studies on the concept using science mapping tools to provide a comprehensive analysis of the evolution of the research field. Therefore, the current study aims to examine the structure and evolution of the digital leadership research field through bibliometric analysis and visual mapping. In this context, firstly, after the publications on digital leadership were filtered through various filters using the Scopus database, 60 scientific publications made between 2016 and 2023 were examined by bibliometric analysis technique and the data obtained were visualized through VOSviewer software. According to the results of the research, it was determined that there was an increase in publications as of 2019; it was determined that the publications were mostly in the field of management and business administration. The country with the highest number of publications is Germany, the most cited source is Peter, Craft and Lindeque's (2020) "Strategic action fields of digital transformation: An exploration of the strategic action fields of Swiss SMEs and large enterprises.", the journal with the highest number of publications is Gruppe Interaktion Organisation Zeitschrift für Angewandte Organisationspsychologie, and the most frequently used keyword after digital leadership is "digital transformation". The results suggest that the concept of digital leadership will continue to attract the attention of more researchers as it has not yet entered the maturity stage.
