Synopsis
Employee experience, as a phenomenon, has entered the agenda of managerial thinking in recent years and has begun to shape the future of the human resources function and profession on a global scale. The reason for this is that, within the framework of the experience economy paradigm, businesses have realized that they can no longer create their differentiation strategies to gain competitive advantage, only with the experiences they offer to their customers. In this context, businesses that want to differentiate based on experience and create high customer satisfaction and loyalty have started to invest in the field of employee experience. As a matter of fact, in the light of changing parameters, it is seen that successful and leading enterprises are those that shelve traditional, standardized and outdated human resources management approaches and reposition their employees as partners to the real success of the enterprise with experience-oriented current concepts. At this point, the expectation for business leaders and human resources professionals to adapt to a new understanding in which the "employee" element is redefined and the employee is kept before the customer is of vital importance in delivering critical business values to the business. The concept of employee experience, in the most general terms, includes experience design activities that are created to meet the expectations, wishes and needs of the employee with a humane and common sense understanding in the business, taking into account the employee life cycle framework, and aiming to create a positive perception of the employee for the total work experience at the end of the process. Correctly understanding and managing the employee experience helps in ensuring strong harmony between the employee and the employer, attracting and retaining talents to the business, creating loyal employees, correct management of the changing workforce quality, as well as has an effect on business results such as profitability, growth, competitive advantage, productivity, strong customer relations and loyalty. In addition, the concept of employee experience has become recognized as a powerful management approach that connects the business world to the experience economy and determines the winning side in the talent war.
In this section, experience orientation, one of the prominent concepts of the period, is first discussed. Then, employee experience was introduced conceptually and a general information was provided about model development studies, content elements of the concept, its impact on business results and the role of human resources in employee experience. The chapter aims to provide in-depth information about the concept for readers and researchers interested in the field of employee experience. In addition, it is expected to contribute to the introduction of employee experience to the Turkish literature, to future studies in the field, and to eliminating the lack of resources in the Turkish literature.
