Financial Analysis Applications in Borsa Istanbul: Sector-Based Reviews II.
Synopsis
This section focuses on the financial analysis of firms operating in the basic metal industry sector between 2018 and 2022. The analysis uses various financial ratios to assess the financial condition and efficiency of the firms. These financial ratios were carried out under main headings such as liquidity ratios, financial structure ratios, activity ratios, profitability ratios, growth ratios, and stock market performance ratios of the firms in the sector. First, the liquidity ratios of the firms are analyzed, and the results show that the sector has a solid foundation in terms of liquidity in general. Firms maintain their ability to pay their short-term debts. However, when financial structure ratios are analyzed, it is seen that the borrowing levels of firms are high, especially short-term debts. Profitability ratios show that the overall profitability level of the sector is fluctuating. Profitability ratios are generally low but have shown an upward trend in recent years. The turnover rate of receivables shows that firms collect their receivables quickly. However, it should be noted that inventory duration is relatively high. Moreover, growth rates and stock market performance ratios indicate that the sector has future growth potential and attracts investors’ interest.
