Synopsis

This research aims to examine the effects of gender, age, sports activity and daily smartphone usage time variables on smartphone use addiction of individuals studying at the School of Physical Education and Sports and the Faculty of Sports Sciences. The population of the research consists of individuals studying at the school of physical education and sports and the faculty of sports sciences in our country. The sample of the study consists of 531 individuals, 280 males and 251 females, randomly selected from physical education and sports college and sports science students in Kilis and surrounding provinces. To collect information about independent variables, a personal information form and Noyan et al. It was obtained using the "Smartphone Addiction Scale Short Form" developed by (2015). Descriptive statistical methods were used when evaluating the study data. Independent sample T-Test and Anova Test were used to analyze the data. The significance level in the analyzes used was determined as p<0.05. Statistical significance was observed in terms of age variable, sports activity variable and daily smartphone usage time. Conclusion; It was concluded that male individuals have higher smartphone addiction than females. It has been concluded that people between the ages of 18-21 and 22-25 are more addicted to smartphones. It was concluded that individuals who spend more time doing sports have less smartphone addiction.
