Synopsis
Capacity planning is of vital importance for the factors of production in terms of showing the state of benefiting from the existing and potential resources of an enterprise. Scheduling studies in which production planning such as main production schedule and material requirements planning are carried out work together with capacity planning. In cases where the performance of employees and machines, which are the production resources of the enterprise, cannot be followed through job analysis, work sampling can be used for standard time calculation with its statistical infrastructure. In the study, the standard times needed for capacity planning were first obtained through work sampling, and then the potential capacity of the enterprise was calculated in line with the capacity planning steps. The comparison of the current situation and potential situation reveals the efficiency configuration of the enterprise. It is thought that the study will be beneficial for practitioners, as it shows an alternative way of capacity planning in enterprises where routine time studies cannot be performed.
