Synopsis
This systematic literature review aims to review the literature on the use and effectiveness of psychodrama techniques in psycho-educational groups. In this context, four databases, Eric, Scopus, Web of Science and Science Direct, were searched for studies published in English between 2000 and December 2022, which included psycho-educational practices using psychodrama techniques. Nine empirical studies that met the inclusion criteria were identified. In the included studies, psycho-educational practices were tested on different sample groups, including students (attending primary, secondary and high school), employees (midwives, nurses, hospital office workers), children of divorced families, mothers taking care of their sick children, expectant mothers and patients with chronic pain. The included studies show that psycho-education practices using psychodrama techniques are effective in reducing burnout symptoms, bullying behaviors and finding the burden of care difficult; and increasing job satisfaction, empathic communication skills, satisfaction with empathic approach, divorce adaptation skills, treatment adherence, cognitive and emotional awareness. However, when the risk of bias analysis of the studies was evaluated, it was seen that the risk of bias was uncertain in some studies. It is thought that these findings will increase the awareness of conducting experimental studies in which precautions against the risk of bias are increased in the future and psychodrama techniques should be included in psycho-education studies involving various problem areas.
