Synopsis

Ecotourism is travel to relatively unspoiled natural areas that are sensitive to the environment, offer benefits to local people, and include education. Ecotourism, which has developed against the negativities of mass tourism, is a type of tourism that minimizes negative environmental, economic and socio-cultural impacts if it is planned and managed correctly.  In addition, thanks to ecotourism, tourism activities, which are limited to coastal areas and certain periods, can spread to rural areas and throughout the year. In Turkey, sea-sand-sun tourism has been at the forefront for many years. However, with the increase in the understanding of sustainable tourism in the world, interest in alternative tourism types has also increased in Turkey, and initiatives to expand tourism to four seasons and throughout the country have gained momentum. Turkey is a country with four seasons and rich in natural and cultural resources. Amasya, located in the Black Sea region of Turkey, is also rich in nature, endemic plant species and wildlife. Bird watching, botanical tourism, hunting and angling, trekking, paragliding, paintball, orienteering, jeep safari, mountain biking, camping and caravan tourism, photo safari, agro tourism, plateau tourism, adventure tourism and festival tourism are ecotourism activities that can be realized in Amasya. Yedikuğular Natural Bird Park (Yedikır Dam) and Boraboy Lake Nature Park, which are suitable for many of these activities, are two important eco parks in Amasya.
