Synopsis

This research was carried out with the aim of examining the physical education course predispositions of secondary school students. The study group of the research consists of a total of 419 students, 199 female and 220 male, who voluntarily agreed to participate in the study, who were studying in secondary schools in the Milas district of Muğla province in the 2022-2023 academic year. General screening method was used in the study. The data were collected by applying the "Physical Education Predisposition Scale (PEPS)", which consists of the "Value Given to Physical Education Lesson" and "Perceived Ability for Physical Education Lesson", which was adapted into Turkish by Erbaş, Ünlü and Kalemoğlu-Varol (2015), along with the personal information form. The collected data were entered into SPSS 22.0 statistical program and reliability test, descriptive analysis and normality test were performed. Since the scale data did not show normal distribution as a result of normality analysis, non-parametric Mann Whitney-U test and Kruskall Wallis-H test were applied to compare the scores of the groups. According to the scores of the students participating in the research, the physical education lesson aptitude levels were above the average, and there was no difference between the groups according to the gender variable (p>0.05). According to the class variable, there are statistically significant differences in favor of the 5th and 6th grade students according to the value given to the physical education lesson and the perceived ability sub-dimensions for the physical education lesson and the total score of PEPS (p<0.05), It has been determined that 5th and 6th grade students have a higher level of physical education course predisposition than 7th and 8th grade students. As a result, it can be stated that the gender variable is not effective enough to make a difference between the groups on physical education course disposition, while the class variable is effective.
