Synopsis
In this study, ferroboron-(1, 2.5 and 5) silicon carbide metal matrix composites were formed on the surface of AISI 1020 steel by using TIG surface alloying method at 100, 110 and 120 Ampere current at 20 Volts and 0.1 mm/s speed and their properties were investigated. The best hardness is 1076±342 HV with 110 ampere and FeB-1SiC. From the wear tests, the friction coefficient and the specific wear amount increased with increasing load.
