Synopsis

Ultrasound devices used mobile in veterinary clinics and by physicians are very costly and many criteria should be taken into account in the determination process of these ultrasound devices. Optimum selection of these devices is in the class of complex problems among decision making problems as it involves the evaluation of various criteria. This study is to determine the most suitable device for the relevant veterinary clinic with multi-criteria decision making (MCDM) methods, especially among the same type of ultrasound devices when there are alternatives. The solution of the related decision problem is modeled using an integrated structure with Smart-TOPSIS methods. The basis of the evaluation processes (MCDM) is the applicability of the methods. The criteria and alternatives of the created solution model were determined by using the opinions of veterinarians working in the field and the literature. A case study was conducted to determine the most appropriate ultrasound device required in a veterinary clinic in Düzce. The results revealed that the most suitable and worst ultrasound device could be detected with Smart-TOPSIS methods. Analysis findings were shared with relevant veterinarians and businesses.
