Synopsis

Rural tourism plays a vital role in developing and reducing poverty in rural areas. Rural tourism, which employs local people, is a type of tourism that increases economic income and raises awareness of sustainable development by increasing welfare. Simultaneously, this type of tourism ensures the continuity of existing jobs and prevents young people from migrating to cities by offering them new jobs. In addition, it is a type of tourism that embraces the region's historical, cultural, and natural attractions and plays an essential role in transferring these values to future generations. The major problem for young people in the Ağlasun District, where both agriculture and animal husbandry continue traditionally, is the lack of sufficient business lines. Consequently, the tendency of young people to leave the district has increased the importance of rural tourism. This research aims to reveal the rural tourism potential of the Ağlasun District. In line with this purpose, this study aimed to determine rural tourism in Ağlasun's district and develop suggestions for the future. The secondary data used in this study were obtained using scanning techniques. As a result of this research, it is understood that the Ağlasun District is suitable for rural tourism and is a center of cultural and gastronomic tourism attraction. It has been concluded that local people's perspectives on rural tourism are positive but that public investment and support are insufficient.
