Synopsis

It is extremely important to apply insulation in buildings in order to save four seasons air conditioning costs and to eliminate many negative factors such as noise pollution, which has a negative effect on human health, and to provide comfort in the life process. In this study, it is aimed to produce a new generation nature-friendly insulation material instead of artificial fiber sound absorbing materials, taking into account environmental protection and energy saving. For this purpose, chicken feathers, cotton waste and epoxy as binder were used in different proportions and insulation materials were produced by applying a certain pressure value of 4x14x16cm. Unit volume weight test, water absorption test, ultrasonic sound permeability and thermal conductivity coefficient tests were applied to the produced insulation materials. With the test results obtained, it has been stated that the insulation material produced complies with TS 825 standards. With this study, it is aimed to produce an alternative insulation material from chicken feathers and cotton, which is abundantly waste in our country and also called natural fiber, instead of artificial fiber materials, and to bring it into the literature and practice.
